Trust in the Lord

I have a small wall plaque at home that says “Trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3: 5-6), and another in the church office which says “But seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all these things will be added unto you.” (Matthew 6: 33).

As individuals and as church, we need God’s direction and help. Very often, there are specific things that we need direction for and help with – specific things we ask God for.

At EBC we are asking for God’s help all the time – for His wisdom and provision as we seek to do more for people in need both locally via our own ministries and around the world through our links with Sierra Leone and via our partners at Christian Solidarity Worldwide and Tearfund, among others.
Also, in the last couple of years and ongoing, we’ve cried out to God for help in re-constructing our staff team and associated ministries, and in seeking direction over training and recruitment. Most recently we have been searching for a Ministry Director to help with the overall leadership of the church and to provide a strong lead with our children, youth and families work.

In our individual lives, and as church, there are lots of things we ask God for, and lots of direction we need from him. It’s good to ask God about specifics of course, but let’s not lose sight of the need to seek and acknowledge God first, to abide with Him, follow Him, to trust Him and submit to him always, in all things. “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God…. and all these things will be added unto you.”

On Thursday evening at our church meeting, we will be updating the church on our plans for the seasons ahead – and there will be some exciting news to share! We’ll also be seeking and praising God together for His provision, His direction and His love.

See you there!
