"THE BIBLE FOR GROWN-UPS"

Part 2: 3 Gardens

On Sunday 27th October we continued our series “The Bible for Grown-Ups . You can listen to the talk by clicking here.

Once you have listened, here are some questions to consider:
1. If you are in a group talk to each other about the choices, you have to make throughout your life. Talk about the relatively trivial everyday choices and the bigger potentially life changing choices. What do you base your decisions on?

2. The 3 Gardens tell us the overarching story of the Bible. The Apple Garden, The Olive Garden and The Grape Garden. The Apples representing the choice that Adam and Eve made to reject God and go their own way, The Olive Garden where Jesus chose to be crushed to bring us healing and the grape garden that reminds us that Jesus is the true vine and we need to choose to be grafted into him. This is all about choices. How much are your choices guided by Jesus?

3. Read John chapter 15 verses 1 -5 here. What does it look like to abide in Jesus? John tells us that we are to be grafted on to Jesus. To abide in Him. How does this manifest itself in your life? Is this sufficient?

4. When we are grafted into Jesus we should be producing the Fruit of the Holy Spirit. How are the fruits growing in your life? Are there fruits that grow more naturally than others. Are there some you struggle with?

5. Jesus made the hard decision in the Garden of Gethsemane to sacrifice all for us. Is there something that God is asking of you that you are struggling with?

6. Are you a Pig or a Chicken? All in for Jesus or just happy to make a contribution? What would God want you to do?

7. Having looked at this what do you need to do in response?
