Gathering & Scattering Part 1 – A Harvest of Blessing

This Sunday, Simon Lace brings us the latest of our short video talks. Once you have watched the video, we encourage you to reflect on the bible text and join us in the prayer that follows below.

Readings:

Hebrews chapter 10 verses 24-25 (NIV)

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Galatians chapter 6 verses 7-10 (NLT)
Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.

Prayer & Reflection

Father God, we say sorry for the times when we feed our sinful nature, and we ask again for your help in living to please you. By your Spirit help us never to tire of doing good but spur us on to towards love and good deeds. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Questions to Consider

1. What are some of the important things about being able to gather as people?

2. In the context of church, what do you personally value about gathering together?

3. “You will always harvest what you plant.” Take a few minutes to reflect on what you are you are planting – what are the things you are bringing into your days, in what you read, watch, listen to and the people you spend time with in person or online.

4. We all get tired – do you ever tire of doing good? What might you do to replenish and refresh yourself in order to ensure you don’t give up?
